Comments: This is no doubt one of the rarest Cases pieces we have
had in some time!
In some ways it appears to be part human with four legs and two arms,
with a pronounced hunchback and the head turned backwards. A very
abstract piece to say the least. Looking at the piece in the face
it could be a cat or human. Its anyone's guess I suppose.
The piece is very highly polished with some small rim chips restored but
no other restoration.
This very different item was once a part of the "Southwestern
Archaeological Institute museum" collection of Alamogordo New
Mexico. The buyer of this Effigy will receive the newspaper

Mimbres Geometric Bowl
Culture: Mogollon
Circa: A. D. 1250
Dimensions: 11 3/4" wide x 6 1/4" high.
Comments: This is an exceptionally large Mimbres bowl. That
was once a part of the now famous RED ELLISON collection. Sometimes
known as the Father of Mimbres Collectors. This bowl has
four prehistoric drill holes for lacing a crack back together. It
is felt that the original owners favored these vessels that they went to
the trouble to drill and lace them together again. This piece has
been broken and glued with an estimated ten percent total professional
restoration.

Chaco Bowl
Culture: Anasazi
Circa: A. D. 1050 - 1175
Dimensions: 7" wide x 4 5/8" high
Comments: This is a very different Chaco Bowl. The unique
thing about this piece is the way it warped during the original
firing. A well drawn bowl with a lot of fine line work
inside the framework. This really neat bowl is totally intact with
no restoration or paint touch up. There is one pressure crack
present otherwise this bowl is in mint condition.
$1,200.00 plus $34.85 shipping and handling including insurance. |
  HR26-14
Chaco Bowl
Culture: Anasazi
Circa: A. D. 1050 - 1125
Dimensions: 7 5/8" wide x 10 5/16" long x 4 1/4"
high.
Comments: This is a beautifully designed Chaco Piece that
developed into an outstanding scoop form during the firing
process. This very unusually shaped bowl is totally intact with no
restoration at all. This bowl has walls that are extraordinarily
thin, 1/8" in most all places. Its mind boggling how these
people could maintain this thickness throughout the entire bowl with
very little variance. Truly they were exceptional potters.
The sharply pointed cleft designs and the frets that separate them are
painted in a dark black paint over a bright white slip. All
of this together make up a well designed four panel layout that seems as
though it were purposefully done to compliment the piece that it has
evolved into. Its inspiring to hold in your hands a bowl that is
so fragile in appearance, that you know has survived almost a thousand
years without so much as even a rim chip.

type. This very different bowl has been broken and glued with an
estimated fifteen percent total restoration with some paint touch up to

Fish
Mimbres Story Bowl
Culture: Mogollon
Circa: A. D. 1250
Dimensions: 63/4" wide x 3" high
Comments: This adorable little bowl has fun story to
tell................A story that is open to interpretation which adds
intrigue and mystery. It would appear that the fish is being
"angled" with a fishing line and float bobber. Other
interpretations might suggest that this is a "talking
fish". Either way when you have more than one element in a
Mimbres bowl it is considered a "Story Bowl". This
interesting bowl has been broken and glued with the interior cracks
filled and an estimated 10% restoration that includes a portion of the
belly restored but there is no conjecture. The negative space
makes a flower design.
